UPDATE (February 16, 2019):
GMO has received about 2-3 inches of snow overnight and it is continuing to fall throughout the day. Please be advised that driving and parking will require extra caution, and please remember to wear warm clothing and boots if you plan to attend. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and please feel free to call us with any questions at (970) 242-1089.
Cold winter weather doesn't have us down up here at Grand Mesa Observatory. We have many, many requests for tours of the observatory. Thus we have decided to hold open house observatory tours once a month starting in January. On the third Saturday of every month the public is welcome to join us for a tour of Grand Mesa Observatory and to hear about the amazing astrophotography that takes place right here in Western Colorado! Questions will be welcome, and we will also talk about the astronomy-based educational and outreach efforts that Grand Mesa Observatory does for local schools and other organizations.
We are already making plans for warmer weather and a new season of public sky viewing events! But until then, please plan to join us at one of our open house tours. Please wear warm clothes. The room that houses our telescopes has to be kept at the same temperature as the outside air.
