PROGRAM:
Grand Mesa Observatory online tour followed by night sky observing basics

In order to continue bringing the night skies of Colorado to the public during the ongoing times of restrictions on public gatherings, the Western Colorado Astronomy Club will be hosting monthly online tours of Grand Mesa Observatory along with virtual tours of the night sky and information on astronomy objects of interest.

Interested members of the public who wish to participate in this experience will be able to easily log in on their computers from the comfort and safety of their home.

The program will begin with a virtual tour of Grand Mesa Observatory, where world class astrophotography is ongoing. Observatory Director, Terry Hancock, will give a short program. After the observatory tour, a Western Colorado Astronomy Club member will give a short presentation on the summer night sky, and how to navigate the constellations. This will enable participants to become familiar with the seasonal night sky, the constellations, and how to locate and observe fascinating objects such as planets in our solar system, galaxies, nebulae, double stars, and other objects.

Provided the sky is clear the program will end with a live stream of astrophotography in progress at the observatory. Guests can watch the data developing and follow the process if they wish.
